Amazon Prime Video to Host First-Ever Streaming of The Game Awards

The Game Awards 2025 is set to be an unforgettable event, marking the close of the gaming calendar with a grand ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on December 11. This year’s show promises to be more accessible than ever, expanding its streaming platforms to include a debut on Amazon Prime Video, in addition to the usual YouTube, Twitch, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok broadcasts.

The Game Awards will stream live on Prime Video for the first time, reaching audiences in over 200 countries and territories. This expansion, announced by the show’s creator Geoff Keighley, signifies a strategic partnership between the awards and Amazon, further cementing Amazon’s place in the gaming industry’s ecosystem through its various ventures.

Amazon Joins The Game Awards

Amazon’s involvement doesn’t stop at streaming. The tech giant plans to introduce a Game Awards-dedicated store, offering fans exclusive merchandise and special Prime deals on nominated games, new releases, and hardware. This move is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to engage with gaming audiences, despite its reduced focus on game development itself.

The Show’s Core Remains Intact

Despite the new partnership, Geoff Keighley assures fans that the essence of The Game Awards will remain unchanged. The addition of Amazon Prime Video as a distribution channel is seen as an enhancement rather than a replacement of existing platforms. Keighley emphasized that the identity and production of the show will stay true to its origins, maintaining its presence on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, where it first gained prominence in 2014.
