XDOTG Claims Exclusive Operating Rights for Vancouver Surge

North American esports is witnessing a significant development as XDOTG has clinched the operating rights to the Call of Duty League franchise, Vancouver Surge. This transition marks a new chapter for the franchise owned by Canucks Sports and Entertainment, as it prepares for an exciting 2026 season under new management.

New Leadership Takes Charge

Announced on November 6th, 2025, the news was confirmed by Alex Gonzalez, founder of XDOTG, who revealed that the agency will manage and operate the Vancouver Surge for the 2026 season. Although financial specifics of the agreement remain undisclosed, this partnership is a first for XDOTG since its launch in September. A significant development is the inclusion of Ricky ‘Atura’ Lugo as Head Coach and General Manager, alongside Nate ‘Swagchecked’ Betancourt as Brand Manager and Jaden ‘Kazbo’ Kurtz as Creative Director. These seasoned professionals bring a wealth of experience, having previously collaborated with the Challengers organization OMiT in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Vancouver Surge In 2025

2025 was a hallmark year for Vancouver Surge, establishing itself as a formidable presence in the Call of Duty League. The franchise achieved consecutive second-place finishes at Major 2 and Major 3, culminating in another runner-up position at the CDL Championship 2025. Despite these successes, on August 13th, the team made the bold decision to part ways with its entire roster, aiming for a fresh start before the Black Ops 7 season commences in December. As anticipation builds, the new player lineup remains a mystery.

Strategic Expansions and Future Potential

Following the sale of Luminosity Gaming to Vertiqal Studios in August, XDOTG was established by Gonzalez and former Enthusiast Gaming executives. This move positions XDOTG as a burgeoning entity in the esports sector. With its inaugural partnership with Canucks Sports and Entertainment, XDOTG is poised to attract more stakeholders, enhancing its growing influence in the industry. Meanwhile, Vertiqal Studios has been active post-acquisition, reportedly releasing several content creators from their contracts. As the esports landscape continues to evolve, the developments surrounding XDOTG and Vancouver Surge are ones to watch closely.
