Unveiling MSI’s Powerful MEG X870E ACE Max Motherboard: 21-Phase VRM, Advanced ClockGen, and Ready for AMD 3D V-Cache Refresh

Exciting developments are underway for AMD enthusiasts as MSI unveils its latest powerhouse motherboard, the MEG X870E ACE Max. This high-performance board is crafted to support AMD’s cutting-edge 3D V-Cache Refresh CPUs, promising enhanced capabilities for tech aficionados worldwide.

Introducing the MEG X870E ACE Max: A New Era for AM5 Builds

MSI is set to captivate the AM5 platform once again with the launch of the highly anticipated MEG X870E ACE Max. This motherboard is an evolution from the previous ACE design seen in the Z890 series, enhanced with innovative features. The ACE lineup hasn’t graced the AM5 scene since the X670E series, making this release a significant moment for tech enthusiasts. The MEG X870E ACE MAX was last showcased at Computex 2025.

This “MAX” refresh series includes the MEG X870E ACE MAX, boasting advanced VRM and an external BCLK generator designed to maximize performance with AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series and the upcoming Ryzen X3D refresh featuring dual 3D V-Cache CCDs. Featuring an impressive 18+2+1 (110A) VRM setup, dual 8-pin connectors, four DDR5 memory slots, and unique innovations like the OC Engine, this motherboard sets the bar high for performance and overclocking capabilities.

Advanced Features and Cutting-Edge Design

The “MAX” series also introduces a larger 64 MB BIOS capacity to facilitate future AMD BIOS updates. This enhancement is critical as the X870E ACE MAX will be among the first to support AMD’s Ryzen 3D V-Cache CPU refresh out-of-the-box, which is anticipated to include dual CCD “V-Cache” options.

The innovative Illusion Lighting system adds to the motherboard’s appeal, showcasing the MSI dragon logo and a large PCH/M.2 cover on the front I/O panel. The board’s design includes five M.2 slots, two of which are Gen5 connectors, all beneath M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks that utilize a toolless design. The top PCIe 5.0 x16 slot incorporates EZ PCIe Release technology.

Engineered with a wavy fin design and Direct-Touch cross heat pipe, the motherboard ensures superior VRM cooling, utilizing high-quality 9W/mK thermal pads and a stylish metal backplate. The black and yellow color scheme enhances its visual appeal.

Connectivity and Launch Details

The MEG X870E ACE MAX offers impressive connectivity with 10 GbE LAN, WIFI7, and USB 40G ports. Additional features include dual PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and a single 8-pin connector to boost PCIe lanes. The comprehensive IO on this motherboard makes it a formidable addition to MSI’s AM5 lineup.

Recently, MSI has begun distributing its X870E and X870 motherboards to retailers. Following our recent evaluation of the X870E Tomahawk MAX WIFI, more products in the lineup are set to debut soon. Expect the MSI MEG ACE MAX to make its grand entrance around CES 2026. Stay tuned for further updates as the launch approaches.
