Bethesda Game Studios has released a new beta update for Starfield on Steam. Update 1.15.214 introduces several improvements to the Creation Kit, expands display resolution options, and addresses numerous bugs.
Creation Kit Receives Significant Upgrades
The update enhances the Creation Kit with several notable improvements. Creators can now upload larger mods with the size limit increased to 2GB. The update also allows users to import custom icons into the game and introduces bundling support in the Creations Store, making it easier to group related mods together.
Enhanced Display Settings for Better Performance
Players will find new display options in this update, including a “Very Low” setting designed to improve performance on certain devices. Bethesda has also expanded resolution support to include 32:9 and 32:10 aspect ratios, along with additional options for 16:9, 16:10, and 21:9 resolutions.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
Several convenient features have been added to enhance the player experience. A new marker on the compass will now point towards your vehicle, making it easier to locate after exploration. PC players can also customise the keybind for the boost button, offering more control flexibility.
Extensive Bug Fixes
The update addresses numerous issues across the game. These include fixes for control locks, crashes, and various gameplay problems. Notable improvements include corrections to the Space-Adept legendary effect, which no longer applies negative modifiers for terrestrial damage, and better functionality for creature movement and dropped items.
How to Access the Beta
Steam users can opt into the beta by right-clicking Starfield in their library, selecting Properties, and choosing Betas to download the update.
Future Developments
Earlier this year, Bethesda mentioned they have “lots of exciting things planned for the game this year.” While specific details remain unclear, recent evidence suggests Starfield might finally be arriving on PlayStation 5 in the near future. The game originally launched in 2023 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with its first expansion, Shattered Space, releasing in September 2024. According to Bethesda, Starfield has attracted more than 15 million players since its release.
The complete patch notes for Update 1.15.214 Beta include numerous additional bug fixes and improvements across general gameplay, graphics, quests, locations, UI, vehicles, and the Shattered Space expansion.
