Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is set to make waves with its upcoming expansion, War Sails. The independent developer TaleWorlds Entertainment has officially revealed that this highly anticipated addition will be available on November 26. Initially slated for a June release, the expansion faced delays but will soon be accessible on both PC and consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, at a price of $24.99.
Set Sail with War Sails
Prepare for an adventurous journey as War Sails introduces a Custom Naval Battles mode, allowing players to command fleets across various maritime environments such as River, Coastal, or Open Sea maps. This feature offers an opportunity to refine tactics, explore ship configurations, or dive straight into naval combat without needing to progress through the campaign. The naval warfare mechanics are inspired by medieval battles, emphasizing mastery over wind and water dynamics. Players can employ strategies like boarding, ramming, and crippling enemy ships to secure victories.
The Northern Kingdom Awaits
War Sails expands the world of Calradia by adding the Northern Kingdom, where the fearless Nords reside amidst jagged peaks and icy fjords. Players can trade, recruit, or engage in battles in these new territories, which include a vast northern sea, islands, rivers, and open waters. The expansion features 18 unique ships, each affected by wind and wave conditions, which can be upgraded with siege engines, rams, and more. Ports, too, can be enhanced, while ships can either be purchased or captured.
In War Sails, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will get to sail rivers and seas to strike deep into enemy territory. Keeping armies supplied, sinking enemy vessels, and blockading towns will be crucial, all while navigating treacherous weather. New companions, weapons, Nordic banners, and various customizations like hairstyles, tattoos, and armor enrich the gameplay experience.
A World of Possibilities
Since its launch in October 2022, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord has maintained a dedicated fanbase and a thriving modding community. From the MMO-like Bannerlord Online mod to total conversions like Realm of Thrones, the game continues to evolve. Additionally, mods integrating generative AI offer dynamic interactions with NPCs, further enhancing the game’s depth and replayability.
