Korean studio Shift Up has officially revealed that a sequel to Stellar Blade is in development. The news comes as part of the studio’s recently published financial report, which outlines upcoming projects and franchise growth strategies extending up to 2027.
The first Stellar Blade launched in April 2024 to a warm reception from players who appreciated its fast-paced combat, drawing comparisons to titles like NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This momentum now appears to be fuelling the developer’s drive to expand the universe even further.
PC Version Coming Before the Sequel
Before the follow-up lands, Shift Up is preparing a broader platform release. A PC version of Stellar Blade is scheduled to arrive on 11 June 2025. The studio referred to this rollout as a “platform expansion,” which likely means it aims to reach new audiences outside the initial PlayStation fanbase.
Earlier in the week, Shift Up acknowledged that a region lock issue had prevented the PC version from appearing on Steam in over 100 territories. The company noted it was working closely with Sony to resolve this restriction.
More Projects in the Works
The roadmap shared by Shift Up also includes a glimpse at another upcoming title: Project Witches. While details are still under wraps, it has been described as a multiplatform action RPG and will be part of the studio’s development cycle leading up to 2027.
This signals that Shift Up isn’t just banking on the success of Stellar Blade, but is actively working to diversify its portfolio with entirely new IPs as well.
From Controversy to Confidence
Although Stellar Blade was praised for its polished gameplay and visually stunning design, there were mixed feelings regarding some aspects of its storytelling and RPG features. Critics noted that side quests often felt repetitive and lacked meaningful impact, and the character development didn’t leave a lasting impression.
Despite these criticisms, the combat mechanics stood out as a core strength, featuring responsive action inspired by titles like Sekiro. The game also rewarded exploration through hidden items and optional content, which helped elevate the overall player experience.
A Promising Future for Shift Up
With a sequel confirmed, a PC launch imminent, and an all-new RPG in the pipeline, Shift Up appears to be positioning itself as a serious contender in the action game genre. The studio’s growing ambitions suggest that the world of Stellar Blade is only just beginning to unfold — with more to come for both current fans and newcomers alike.
