Indonesian esports team Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) is making a comeback to the Apex Legends scene after a six-year hiatus. This announcement has excited fans, as the organization prepares for the thrilling competition by signing a new roster of players. The team is set to battle it out in the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Year 5 Championship, which will take place in Sapporo, Japan.
RRQ’s New Lineup
RRQ has re-entered the Apex Legends arena by acquiring the roster from Las Vegas Inferno, the team that recently finished as runners-up in the ALGS 2025 Last Chance Qualifier for the APAC South region. The new squad includes Komkrit ‘Noelsang’ Malaihom, Supakorn ‘mosu’ Kaewpang, and Panupong ‘sato_kohai’ Prasertphongkun, who will serve as the team captain. Jasper ‘yanlys’ Xiang, an experienced coach with a history in the ALGS APAC South scene, will guide the team, and Alexis ‘zona’ joins as the analyst. This move marks RRQ’s return to Apex Legends competition, a significant change since they last competed in 2019.
RRQ Heads to the ALGS Championship
The ALGS Championship is a pinnacle event eagerly awaited by Apex Legends fans worldwide. The 2026 edition concludes Year 5 of the series, where teams have fiercely competed in various qualifiers, Challenger Series, and Pro Leagues. This year, 40 top teams from regions including EMEA’s Alliance and the Americas’ Shopify Rebellion are vying for a $2 million prize pool.
The tournament in Sapporo, Japan, consists of three main stages. It begins with the Group Stage, where four groups of ten teams each will compete in a six-match series to determine the standings for the Bracket Stage. The top 20 teams will advance to the Finals on January 18th, 2026, where the competition format shifts to a Match Point series. The team that reaches 50 points and secures a first-place finish will be crowned the ALGS Year 5 Champion.
