Beyond the footage being captured on PlayStation 5, the trailer showcases what appear to be DualSense controllers and a PlayStation console lookalike.
During a sequence where Lucia arrives home and greets Jason, two controllers resembling the DualSense can be seen placed on a glass table, with what looks like a PlayStation 5 console in the background.
These details, combined with the disclaimer noting that the footage was captured on PS5, have prompted speculation about a potential co-marketing arrangement between Sony and Rockstar Games for GTA 6.
Historical Ties Between PlayStation and Grand Theft Auto
Such a partnership would align with the longstanding relationship between the Grand Theft Auto franchise and PlayStation, which dates back many years. Earlier titles in the series including GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas initially launched exclusively on PlayStation consoles as Sony had secured exclusive rights from Rockstar.
While the exclusivity agreements concluded after these titles—with GTA 4 and GTA 5 releasing simultaneously on PlayStation and Xbox platforms—Sony continued to maintain special arrangements with Rockstar. For example, GTA 5’s PlayStation 4 version was unveiled during Sony’s E3 presentation in 2014.
