The esports scene is buzzing with excitement as PGL, a leading tournament organiser, has announced an extensive lineup of Tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 events scheduled for 2027 and 2028. This ambitious plan promises to enrich the competitive landscape with numerous events that fans and players alike can look forward to.
Exciting Events on the Horizon
Reports suggest that PGL’s calendar for 2027 includes seven thrilling events, with an additional eight set for 2028, spanning from January to November. For 2027, the competition kicks off in January and runs until October. Notably, PGL will also manage the official English broadcast of the CS Asia Championship 2027 from August 17th to 29th. In total, PGL is ambitiously planning 14 major Counter-Strike 2 events over the two-year period. These events reinforce PGL’s commitment to delivering top-tier esports experiences and add even more excitement to the 2027 competitive calendar.
A Milestone Year for PGL
Describing this initiative as a milestone in the history of Counter-Strike, sources have stated, “Together, these events mark a milestone year for PGL, representing one of the most ambitious competitive calendars in Counter-Strike history.” In 2025, PGL also revealed details about PGL Astana 2026, which includes a significant $1.6m prize pool and will be held from May 7th to 18th, 2026, with playoffs in the Barys Arena.
CS2’s Calendar Takes Shape
PGL is setting the stage among several organisers as it rolls out its event schedule in line with Valve’s Tournament Operation Rulebook. In parallel, BLAST laid out its schedule for the BLAST Premier 2026 and 2027 seasons in July, and the Esports World Cup has also announced plans for a Counter-Strike 2 event in 2027. For 2028, ESL has recently revealed its Pro Tour calendar, featuring six Tier 1 events between January and November.
