OG Esports has made a significant move by benching two key players, Nico ‘nicoodoz’ Tamjidi and Christoffer ‘Chr1zN’ Storgaard, from its Counter-Strike 2 roster. This decision follows the team’s failure to qualify for the StarLadder Budapest Major scheduled for November. With changes underway, OG is looking to bolster its lineup and reaffirm its commitment to the competitive Counter-Strike scene.
Changes in the OG Esports Lineup
Chr1zN, who has been the in-game leader for 14 months, and nicoodoz, the team’s AWPer for six months, are stepping down. Their departures mark a shift as OG Esports aims to strengthen its roster after recent setbacks. Nicoodoz joined in April, bringing a new dynamic to the team that led to a successful run at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, reaching Stage 2. Chr1zN, having joined in August 2024, witnessed several team transformations as OG tried to enhance its competitive edge.
Shortly after these changes, OG Esports released a statement reinforcing its dedication to Counter-Strike esports. They emphasized their ongoing efforts to create a roster that embodies OG’s values of resilience, passion, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. Reports suggest that Casper ‘CadiaN’ Møller might be a potential new addition to the team, offering hope for a stronger lineup.
OG Esports in 2025
The latest benching is part of a series of roster changes for OG. Previously, Maciej ‘F1KU’ Miklas also departed from the lineup in July after a three-year tenure. Beyond competitive matches, OG Esports has been expanding its fan engagement activities. The organization’s fan token, launched in 2020, has seen remarkable success, recently surpassing a $100m (~£76.1m) market cap.
Ownership changes have also been a highlight this year. In September, The Chiliz Group acquired a 51% stake in OG Esports, leading to Xavier Oswald’s appointment as the new CEO. These strategic moves indicate OG’s ambition to reshape its future both in and out of the gaming arena.
