New Multiplayer Modes Unveiled for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

Details regarding new multiplayer modes for the much-anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 might have been prematurely disclosed. One of the development partners mistakenly shared details of a developer-only playtest on the Xbox Call of Duties app for a sneak peek at the next installment.

Accidental Leak Reveals Game Modes

As first revealed by CharlieIntel, it seems someone at Activision Blizzard made a mistake that made various images and “message of the day cards” available to the public that are supposed to be used in the playtest this weekend. The crash has revealed several multiplayer modes presently in testing.

New Multiplayer Modes: Skirmish and Overload

One of the game modes that were revealed is called Skirmish, which is a 20v20 game mode that allows the use of a wingsuit to help players navigate the battlefield. The mode’s description says, “Two teams of 20 compete to complete objectives on a massive map. Capture important locations, destroy payloads, and deliver vital information to your team to earn points. Use your wingsuit to traverse outside of the map and outpace your enemies. The first team to reach the score wins.”

Overload, a new mode, resembles the classic Neutral Assault. In EMP, players must carry a device to their opponent’s base and detonate it to win an overall match.

Development and Anticipation

According to a new report, Raven Software and Treyarch  are co-developing Black Ops 7. The surprising announcement was made earlier this month during the Summer Game Fest.  The announcement came as a surprise, being the first consecutive release in the Black Ops series, causing buzz with Call of Duty fans.  If you want to learn more about Black Ops 7, including its single-player mode, check out the game overview.
