This exciting announcement was made during the recent State of Play Japan broadcast. While pricing details are still under wraps, Sony has revealed an impressive array of features that promise to elevate your gaming experience.
Innovative Features and Specifications
The upcoming PlayStation Gaming Monitor boasts a Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS display with a resolution reaching 2560 x 1440, designed to offer gamers an optimal viewing comfort. It comes equipped with High Dynamic Range (HDR) support and Auto HDR Tone Mapping, ensuring vibrant visuals on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles. To keep gameplay smooth and fluid, it features Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support and refresh rates extending up to 120 Hz on consoles and 240 Hz on compatible PC and Mac devices. Additionally, a built-in Charging Hook for DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controllers adds to the convenience.
Connectivity and Audio Options
This monitor is versatile in its connectivity, featuring two 2.1 HDMI IN ports and one 1.4 DisplayPort IN port, ensuring compatibility with various devices including PlayStation 5, PC, and Mac. The ports support resolutions up to 2560×1440 and refresh rates up to 240Hz. USB connectivity includes two USB Type-A and one USB Type-C port, suitable for PlayStation Link Adapters and other devices. For mounting, it supports select VESA systems, and for audio, it has a built-in stereo speaker and a 3.5mm audio output. Sony recommends pairing it with the forthcoming Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers, expected in 2026, for a superior audio experience.
Future Competition and Additional Announcements
Speculations abound that this PlayStation Gaming Monitor will be more affordable compared to Sony’s previously released Inzone M10S OLED and M9 II monitors, despite being a step down in specifications. However, gamers will have to wait for official pricing details to confirm its affordability. In addition to the monitor, Sony also revealed a budget-friendly, Japan-exclusive version of the PlayStation 5 and Bandai Namco’s new Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC.
