Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Inks Historic Broadcast Rights Deal

In a significant move for the world of esports, MOONTON Games has teamed up with Redd+E to distribute broadcast rights for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports across Southeast Asia. This collaboration, which includes the highly anticipated M7 World Championship, is part of MOONTON’s strategy to cultivate a robust global media network. The partnership aims to innovate a broadcast rights model that could lead to lucrative deals in the region.

Redd+E’s role as the authorized reseller marks the first time MLBB has entered into a broadcast rights partnership, highlighting a shift in how esports events might be monetized. Traditionally, esports tournaments have been freely streamed on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, making this move a groundbreaking development in the industry.

Strategic Partnership for Revenue and Growth

Yip Ren Kai, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Redd+E, expressed optimism about the deal, stating it would generate additional revenue for esports intellectual property owners, including the teams and MOONTON itself. He emphasized the cultural and global significance of MLBB as an esports title and the potential an established broadcast rights model holds for the game.

“By connecting MLBB with broadcasters and media partners across Southeast Asia, we are driving new commercial pathways that will enhance sustainability, audience growth, and long-term value for the entire ecosystem,” he explained.

Redd+E’s Expanding Influence

As part of the agreement, Redd+E will oversee the distribution of all Mobile Legends Professional Leagues (MPLs) in Southeast Asia, covering countries like Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Singapore. MLBB continues to be a leader in global esports viewership, amassing 475 million watch hours in 2024 according to industry data.

The collaboration is seen as a pivotal step towards making MLBB Esports as commercially viable as any major global sport. Adrian Cher from MOONTON Games highlighted the potential for this broadcast framework to expand into other regions with strong MLBB communities, such as the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America.

M7 World Championship to Kick Off on January 3rd

The inaugural event within this new partnership framework will be the M7 World Championship. Details about future broadcast partners for the Southeast Asian region are expected to be released soon. Scheduled from January 3rd to 25th, 2026, in Indonesia, the championship boasts a prize pool of $1 million (~£758,000).
