Death Stranding 2 is carrying on the franchise’s tradition of making players take difficult walks across unremarkable settings. Moving around while walking is still part of the gameplay but vehicles become essential in transporting the larger orders, carrying the packages that are too large for Sam’s backpack and making things easier normally.
Unlocking Your First Set of Wheels: The Tri-Cruiser
You get more ways to travel after finishing Order 6. After a quiet chat with Deadman and a quick holographic call to Fragile, you’ll return to the surface where Alex is waiting at the Former Geophysicists Research Lab. Here, he will let you know about the ability to craft your first automobile, the Tri-Cruiser.
Go to the garage and select “Fabricate a Vehicle”. You can build a Tri-Cruiser once you select the Tri-Cruiser option and confirm you have all the necessary items. Aside from choosing the model of your choice, the garage allows you to change colour or decal design of the car. Recycling can still be an option if you don’t need it anymore.

The Tri-Cruiser requires
- 220 Metals.
- 160 Ceramics.
- 10 Chemicals.
Upgrading to the Pickup Off-Roader
If you want more carrying capacity, Pickup Off-Roader is unlocked after completing Order 13. This big vehicle offers way more storage than the Tri-Cruiser, but it is slow. The big size and weight have made the Pickup Off-Roader much slower than the more nimble Tri-Cruiser. The Off-Roader’s better shock absorption makes it easier to navigate through rocky paths.

Vehicle Specialisations and Strategic Applications
Death Stranding 2 motorcycle and truck have different functions. With speed and agile frame, the Tri-Cruiser is the smart choice for speedy deliveries and mountainous slopes. Its front wheels can also switch to blades that cut through pathways when facing steep inclines.
On the other hand, the Off-Roader specializes in transport and capacity for fights. If you want to do some combat on the move, get any Out-Roader an offensive attachment Sticky Cannon, Heavy Machine Gun, or Chiral Cannon. The vehicle can hold two weapons at the same time, but that only leaves room for six accessories, like spare batteries.
The Tri-Cruiser has six add-ons but using those prevents adding cargo on the sides, so think carefully when putting on your cargo loadout.
Managing Vehicle Capacity and Weight
One of the most important parts of driving in Death Stranding 2 is capacity and weight. When your limit is exceeded, the vehicle will no longer work effectively. You may get stuck in that case and have to leave behind valuable cargo. The weight of the vehicle will affect performance as an over-loaded vehicle will run slower which will affect your delivery.
Don’t let those motorised buddies you have become vehicles of loss! Plan for their deployment and use your resources wisely to keep them so!
