Sci-Fi Halo Remaster Reportedly Coming in 2026 just before the Xbox games showcase 2025 happened, Microsoft revealed to the fans what to expect in 2026. Halo: Combat Evolved strategic remaster might be in the works. Xbox chief Phil Spencer hinted at a return of a classic. Spencer said “it’s a classic that’s been with us since the beginning. Is Halo Combat Evolved Getting Another Outing?
Journalist Mark Warren says that the teased return has a link to a new version of Halo: Combat Evolved. This would not be the franchise’s first remaster, as its original title was already remastered in 2011 with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary which was later packed in The Master Chief Collection. Yet, the new edition is supposed to have more up-to-date functions. Also, there are chances of its release on other consoles besides Xbox. The game will be released for PlayStation 5 also.
Not the New Halo Game, But an Important Upgrade
It’s worth mentioning that this project is not the same as the new Halo game currently being worked on. The new title is being developed with Unreal Engine 5 by the studio officially called Halo Studios (previously 343 Industries); it will mark a complete evolution of the franchise. A year ago, fans got to see a demonstration nicknamed Project Foundry — a seven-minute video built for no other reason but to show Halo-like possibilities of Unreal Engine.
Project Foundry doesn’t confirm a game but did hint at the series’ future after Halo Infinite 2021. And now, it looks like a new remaster of Combat Evolved, possibly Microsoft is not only looking forward but also looking back.
A Bridge Between Generations
If these rumors are true, this remaster could show how Halo got started and bring it back to reality. The original Combat Evolved has set the stage of Xbox history. An upscaled version might spark nostalgia while also preparing ourselves for what’s next in the series.
If the game is released on the PlayStation, that would indicate a new era of the game being available on multiple platforms.
