League of Legends Icon Karsa Bids an Emotional Farewell
After more than a decade electrifying the esports scene, Hung ‘Karsa’ Hau-hsuan has chosen to retire from professional League of Legends. His journey through the game has been nothing short of legendary, leaving an indelible mark on the community. In a heartfelt video shared with fans, Karsa reflected on his career and hinted at the new path he intends to take.
Karsa Leaving Pro League of Legends
Karsa’s career began with the Flash Wolves in 2015, a period he nostalgically recalls as the happiest time of his professional life. “Time has really flown by,” he reminisced, reflecting on his early days of trials with the Flash Wolves. Over the years, Karsa’s journey included playing for prominent teams such as RNG, CTBC Flying Oysters, and PSG Talon, where he celebrated significant victories like winning the LPL Spring and Summer in 2018, along with the Mid-Season Invitational in 2018.
However, his tenure wasn’t without its challenges. Particularly during his time with PSG Talon, Karsa expressed disappointment at not being able to perform at his peak and ultimately requested the team to replace him. Despite these struggles, he credited PSG Talon’s former coach, Cheng “CorGi” Pin-Lun, for aiding his performance improvement, even as he battled personal difficulties that led him to seek therapy.
“Over these 11 years, there were peaks and there were lows. There were many painful moments, and also many moments of joy,” Karsa wrote. “Today, I’m stopping here. Karsa, the player, is saying goodbye.”
The League of Legends community has expressed mixed emotions, recognizing Karsa as one of the all-time greats in the jungler role while lamenting his departure. Fans fondly remember his last competitive appearance at Worlds, with one supporter dubbing him “Taiwan’s strongest jungler.”
Karsa’s future plans include creating content for his community, possibly exploring more of the streaming world. Though he hasn’t confirmed any specific endeavors, the esports world eagerly anticipates what comes next for this legendary player.
