Publisher Krafton has stepped in to clarify concerns surrounding the sudden drop in inZoi’s concurrent players on Steam. Even as numbers continue to drop, the company believes the title’s sales success should be what people pay attention to, especially considering it’s a single-player title.
Initially, inZoi peak number of concurrent players on Steam was 87,377 in launch week. In just seven days after launching, the game managed to exceed one million units sold. Thus, making it the fastest-selling game to achieve this hallmark for any title published by Krafton. The life-simulation competitor quickly reached the peak of Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart within an hour of its release. The CEO of Krafton CH Kim has earlier said that the game is intended as a long-term franchise investment.
A Decline in Steam Numbers
InZoi had a strong start but dropped significantly in concurrent players count after launch. Following its latest peak, only 1,477 users were online at the same time. Surprisingly, this number is lower than that of The Sims 3, which was released over10 years ago.
Krafton, meanwhile, played down the importance of concurrent players for inZoi when asked about the trend. The publisher said it was a single-player game, so sales that continue after launch are a better indicator of success than active users playing at the same time on Steam.
Sales Matter More Than Steam Metrics
Krafton explained that the game continues to perform sales continuously. As stated by the publisher, it is better to look at spikes in purchases made as a result of updates or new content rather than basing it on the statistics of live players.
This perspective echoes broader industry conversations. Recently, a few developers denounced the obsession with concurrent player stats even in single-player games. For instance, in 2024, Palworld’s community lead said the “dead game” label is harmful. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2’s production head said earlier this year Steam player counts are just one of many valuable performance metrics.
Player Feedback and Future Content
Krafton also said that inZoi is still in Early Access, with the development still ongoing. The company said this stage is the start of the project’s life cycle and it will improve the game further through player feedback.
As the development team works on performance, new features, and an immersive experience over this period. Krafton thanked the game’s community and promised regular updates to its content in the coming months.
Mac Version Set to Launch Soon
Looking ahead, inZoi is also expanding to new platforms. In August, the Mac App Store and Steam will have the game available, Krafton disclosed. The Mac version is fully optimised for the latest Apple Silicon hardware, making use of MetalFX and Core ML to ensure smooth high-quality gameplay, just like the Windows version.
