Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a fresh approach to resource farming called Material Retrieval. Players must first complete the Low Rank portion of the game to access this feature. Upon completion, various Side Missions connected to specific NPCs become available. Finishing these quests grants access to specialised farms across different biomes. After completing their respective missions, Nata serves as the central coordinator for these NPCs, allowing players to manage all farming operations through him.
Unlocking Material Retrieval Across Biomes
To unlock Material Retrieval in each biome, players must complete specific Side Missions that become available at different points in the story. These are activated by speaking with designated villagers.

Resource Gathering Mechanics
Each farming location specialises in different resource types, with weather conditions directly influencing the frequency and availability of items. Players should note that Material Retrieval stops acquiring new items once 16 inventory slots are filled, making regular visits to Nata essential for efficient resource management.
Understanding Resource Frequency
- Very Rare: Requires significant luck
- Low: Minimal collection expected
- Moderate: Reasonable collection chances
- High: Abundant resource gathering
