Polyphony Digital’s masterpiece, **Gran Turismo 7**, continues to captivate the racing world, even after nearly four years since its release. Series creator and Polyphony Digital founder Kazunori Yamauchi disclosed in a recent interview held at the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 World Finals in Fukuoka, Japan, that the game maintains a vibrant community. With over two million monthly players, the game’s audience is not just stable but expanding, making it the most successful title in the franchise’s history.
Gran Turismo 7 is regularly played by over two million players each month, with its player base still growing.
Exciting New Additions in Spec III
Despite its age, Gran Turismo 7 remains fresh and engaging, thanks to consistent updates and new content. The latest update, Spec III (Update 1.65), arrived on December 4, introducing a fleet of new cars and tracks. Players can now experience eight additional cars, including the Ferrari 296 GT3 ’23 and Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R ’97, as well as race on the Yas Marina Circuit and Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. A new Data Logger feature has also been added, enhancing gameplay by allowing racers to analyze their performance through detailed data metrics.
Gran Turismo 7’s Expanding Content and Challenges
Beyond the free Spec III update, Gran Turismo 7 offers the Power Pack for $29.99, a premium DLC that enriches the game with 50 new races across varied categories and six unique cars fine-tuned by Gran Turismo. Players can also engage in intense tail-to-nose battles with Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0, accompanied by a generous 5,000,000 in-game Credits.
However, not all aspects of the game have been universally praised. The aggressive microtransaction system has drawn criticism and impacted review scores. Additionally, the absence of a PC version remains a point of contention, particularly as other PlayStation exclusives have made the leap to PC.
Three years ago, Kazunori Yamauchi hinted at the possibility of a PC version, which was widely reported. However, he later clarified that although the idea wasn’t entirely off the table, no active development was underway. By the close of 2025, the status of a potential PC port remains unchanged.
