G2 Esports has revealed that coach Wiktor ‘TaZ’ Wojtas will be stepping in for Nemanja ‘huNter-‘ Kovač during the initial matches of PGL Astana 2025. The temporary roster change comes as a result of huNter- experiencing VISA complications that prevent his immediate participation in the tournament.
Official Announcement Details
The organisation made the announcement through its social media channels, explaining the situation with their characteristic humour. G2 stated that huNter- would not be travelling to PGL Astana until his VISA issues are resolved, jokingly attributing his absence to “the competition being too easy.”
G2’s Tournament Roster
With this adjustment, G2 Esports will be entering PGL Astana 2025 with the following lineup:
- Mario ‘malbsMd’ Samayoa
- Nikita ‘HeavyGod’ Martynenko
- Janusz ‘Snax’ Pogorzelski (captain)
- Aleksander ‘hades’ Miśkiewicz (loan)
- Wiktor ‘TaZ’ Wojtas (coach/stand-in)
- Nemanja ‘huNter-‘ Kovač (currently absent)
TaZ’s Professional Background
TaZ currently serves as G2’s Counter-Strike 2 coach but brings substantial experience as a former CS
professional player. His career highlights include clinching first place with Virtus.pro at DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017. As a coach, he recently guided G2 to a second-place finish at PGL Bucharest 2025.
Following the announcement, TaZ took to social media to acknowledge his return to competitive play. He later posted a follow-up message noting “they asked how to save Polish CS” and declaring “mission completed.” huNter- also shared a supportive message for his temporary replacement.
Player History and Community Response
The temporarily absent huNter- has established himself as a formidable player, contributing significantly to G2’s success throughout 2024, including their top placement in the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024.
The announcement generated excitement within the community, with one fan commenting that G2’s humorous approach of calling the “competition too easy” was a classic G2 flex. They also noted that TaZ stepping in would bring nostalgia for Polish CS fans, suggesting that with hades and Snax already on the team, this Polish trio could potentially cause significant disruption in the tournament.
