The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City recently set the stage for an exhilarating showdown in the world of esports. From November 13th to 16th, the Red Bull Home Ground 2025 tournament brought together top-tier VALORANT teams from around the globe. An annual highlight in the VALORANT OFF//SEASON, this event saw eight elite teams directly invited, while eleven others battled fiercely in the Play-In Stage to secure their spot in the Main Event.
All eyes were on the intense double-elimination bracket that unfolded, featuring ten formidable teams, including Cloud9 and T1. Except for the climactic final matches, the tournament’s structure was defined by thrilling best-of-ones (BO1s).
G2 Esports’ Lower Bracket Run
G2 Esports arrived at the Red Bull Home Ground with a renewed lineup, having recently parted ways with Jonah ‘JonahP’ Pulice. The team welcomed Andrej ‘babybay’ Francisty, who had previously filled in for Nathan ‘leaf’ Orf during VCT Americas Stage 2, as a potential new regular in the upcoming season. Despite G2’s dominant presence in the VCT Americas circuit, their journey in New York began on a rocky note. A challenging loss to ZETA DIVISION (7-13) pushed them into the lower bracket.
However, G2’s resilience shone through as they overcame formidable adversaries like Cloud9 (13-11), Sentinels (13-8), and Fnatic (15-13). Their determination culminated in a satisfying revenge match against ZETA (2-0) in the Lower Bracket Final, securing their place in the Grand Final.
G2 Esports Clean Sweeps NRG
The drama began on Corrode, where G2 staged a remarkable comeback from 1-8 to secure a 13-10 victory, becoming the first team to defeat NRG on this map. The momentum carried forward as they dominated Split (13-4) and Pearl (13-7).
Highlighting G2’s success, Alexander ‘jawgemo’ Mor emerged as the standout player of the final, boasting an impressive 54/37/11 KDA and an ACS of 241.
