Fortnite Makes a Comeback to EWC with Reload Elite Series Showdown

Epic Games is gearing up for an exciting year with the announcement of a $2.5 million Fortnite Reload Elite Series competition, culminating at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC). This event will spotlight Fortnite alongside Rocket League in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, showcasing the evolving landscape of competitive gaming.

Reload Elite Series and Its Unique Format

The Reload Elite Series introduces a new dynamic to Fortnite competitions, focusing on the game’s Reload mode—a fast-paced 40-player battle royale. This format ensures continuous action as teammates can respawn as long as one squad member remains alive. Epic Games plans to kick off the series with four qualifiers between January and June, each featuring four stages. Open Rounds will lead into regional Play-Ins, where the best duos will battle their way to the Finals. Only the top teams will earn a coveted spot in the Reload Elite Series Championship at EWC.

Fortnite’s Road to EWC 2026

Participants will vie for a share of the $1.5 million regional prize pool, with EU winners taking home up to $30,000. Additionally, the world championship event at EWC will offer an extra $1 million in prizes. This will mark Fortnite’s second appearance at EWC, absent from the 2025 edition but returning stronger than ever, with both Fortnite and Rocket League joining 20 other titles at the event.

The Reload Elite Series is more than just a competition; it’s a testament to Fortnite’s enduring influence in gaming culture. According to Fabian Scheuermann, Chief Games Officer of the Esports World Cup Foundation, the event will establish a global, multi-year competitive ecosystem, reinforcing Fortnite’s significant presence in digital entertainment.
