Five Nights at Freddy’s Coming to Dead by Daylight with Matthew Lillard as Springtrap

After nine years of operation, Behaviour Interactive is finally bringing the highly anticipated Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration to Dead by Daylight, featuring film star Matthew Lillard in a prominent role.

The collaboration, which has been in development for some time, was officially unveiled during the Dead by Daylight PAX East presentation. This new content will form part of the game’s ninth anniversary celebrations, with Freddy Fazbear and his notorious animatronic crew leading the frightful additions expected to launch in June.

Lillard, who portrayed William Afton in the 2023 Five Nights at Freddy’s film, returns to the role by providing both his likeness and newly recorded voice lines for the game’s latest Killer: Springtrap. This sinister animatronic bunny, also known as Yellow Rabbit or Spring Bonnie, will be available as a Legendary Outfit when the collection releases.

According to Behaviour Interactive, Five Nights at Freddy’s represents the most requested licence in Dead by Daylight history. To satisfy long-waiting fans, the content update will include a detailed Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza map filled with numerous Easter eggs and surprises for players to discover. Additional information, including a precise release date, is expected to be announced soon.

CD Projekt Red’s Fantasy Epic Crosses Over on 3rd June

While the Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover has generated significant excitement, it isn’t the only gaming collaboration on the horizon. The PAX East event also revealed that CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed The Witcher series will make its way into Behaviour’s popular horror game.

The Witcher Collection will launch on 3rd June and features outfits inspired by the fantasy RPG universe. Players can look forward to a Legendary outfit based on Geralt of Rivia himself, alongside Very Rare outfits representing Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, and Eredin. As an additional treat, those who acquire the Geralt costume will enjoy new voice lines recorded specifically for this collaboration by original voice actor Doug Cockle.

Dead by Daylight’s Product Director Rose Li shared that the team’s favourite piece from the collection is undoubtedly Geralt’s Legendary Outfit for Vittorio Toscano. She explained that this outfit allows players to adopt the exact appearance of The White Wolf, complete with unique lobby animations and brand-new voice lines recorded by Cockle specifically for this game.

The partnership with Dragula, Shudder’s monster-themed drag reality competition, is also expanding. Players can anticipate the Boulet Brothers Collection releasing on 8th July, featuring a Winter Warrior outfit for The Huntress and the Boulet Brothers Artist outfit for The Artist.

Future Plans: Quality-of-Life Updates and Community-Created Content

Behaviour Interactive’s PAX East showcase also highlighted upcoming quality-of-life improvements scheduled throughout 2025 and beyond. June updates will feature a revamp of The Archives and adjusted Gamma Settings, while future months will bring expanded spectator options in Custom Matches, map and key item rebalancing, an MMR rework, and additional balance adjustments.

Creative Director Dave Richard revealed an entirely new concept: a Dead by Daylight Chapter created entirely by fans. This innovative approach will see Behaviour working directly with its community to develop both a Killer and Survivor from scratch through what appears to be a choose-your-own-adventure style process. Players will vote on all character aspects, though with a planned 2026 release date, further details remain distant.

Since its 2016 launch, Dead by Daylight has experienced consistent growth and expansion. Previous crossover Collections have featured content from various franchises including Dungeons & Dragons, Resident Evil, and Tokyo Ghoul.
