Green Shell

A Green Shell that’s aimed accurately can hit players in front or behind. If it doesn’t make the connection, it will bounce off walls and create a hazard in the track.

Red Shell

This tracking shell targets the nearest racer ahead. It “homing shells” as it comes for the target automatically unlike the green shell. So, yeah it is more accurate.

Super Horn

The Super Horn releases a powerful shockwave that can knock away nearby players and take out incoming threats like the Blue Shell.

Hammer

Hammers can be hurled to knock out rivals. They also stop on the road for a while, acting as obstacles for racers behind them.

Bullet Bill

A key item used when a player is behind or doing poorly in the game, Bullet Bill is an item that transforms the user into the missile, which will then race along the track and run down anyone in its path at high speeds.

Golden Mushroom

This item gives you unlimited turbo boosts for a short amount of time, allowing you to travel a long distance quickly if used correctly.

Mushroom

When you use Boo, you’re able to swipe an item from a rival while going invisible for a short time to avoid attacks.

Coin

Collecting coins will increase your top speed, capping out at 20 coins. They are often present and essential for momentum-focused racers.

Coin Box

In a similar vein to the platformers, breaking a Coin Box grants the player coins which helps the player attain the top speed cap much easier.

Coin Shell

As you move forward with this special shell, you’ll drop coins. Following this path, players can collect speed-boosting money.

Fire Flower

This item will blast fireballs in front of you that hit racers in a straight line. It’s a classic attack tool that remains effective.

Ice Flower

This variant shoots out freezing projectiles. 

An opponent who is frozen would not be maintaining control and would be slipping around the field with lessened handling.

Kamek

Kamek summons has the power to magically transform racers into other enemies; it can really throw the racer off.

Lightning
