Explore the Guilds and Factions of Oblivion Remastered

Oblivion Remastered boasts five major guilds, each with rich questlines and memorable characters, ready for players to join and shape. These are:

  • Arena
  • Fighters Guild
  • Mages Guild
  • Thieves Guild
  • Dark Brotherhood

Additionally, several minor factions exist, offering small quests to join their ranks. While membership in these groups often grants minor perks, it’s mostly honorary. Examples include:

  • Blackwood Company
  • The Blades
  • Knights of the Nine
  • Order of the Dragon
  • Order of the Virtuous Blood

Battle in the Arena

The Arena in the Imperial City is the simplest and most rewarding faction to join. After escaping the sewer in the game’s opening, head up the hill to the Imperial City Market District, then proceed to the Arena District. The Arena’s entrance is immediately to the left.

Descend to the Bloodworks and meet Owyn, a no-nonsense Redguard who handles recruitment. Sign up, choose between a Heavy or Light Raiment, and begin your climb through nine ranks, from Pit Dog to Grand Champion, earning fame and gold with each victory.

Join the Fighters Guild

For those who thrive in heavy armor, the Fighters Guild offers mercenary work, tackling tasks like slaying goblins, clearing rats, or exploring dark dungeons. Completing contracts rewards players with gold, fame, and rare items while pitting them against rival mercenaries.

To enlist, visit a Fighters Guild hall in one of these cities:

  • Anvil (speak to Azzan)
  • Cheydinhal (speak to Burz gro-Khash)
  • Chorrol (speak to Vilena Donton)

Each hall welcomes new members ready to take on challenging contracts across Cyrodiil.

Master Magic in the Mages Guild

Aspiring spellcasters will find their place in the Mages Guild, where they can rise from Associate to Arch-Mage, eventually leading the guild. To join, visit a guild hall in any of these cities:

  • Anvil
  • Bravil
  • Bruma
  • Cheydinhal
  • Chorrol
  • Leyawiin
  • Skingrad

Each hall’s leader assigns a unique task. Complete all seven tasks to gain access to the Arcane University in the Imperial City, where Raminus Polus finalizes membership.

Sneak into the Thieves Guild

Unlike other guilds, the Thieves Guild demands cunning to join. Three paths lead to membership:

  • Commit a crime like stealing or trespassing to land in prison, where a Thieves Guild member will approach with an offer.
  • In the Imperial City Waterfront District, chat with beggars or guards who mention The Gray Fox. Persuade them to reveal details of a midnight meeting.
  • In Bravil, find City-Swimmer, a wandering Argonian. Ask about The Gray Fox, and she’ll share information about the secret meeting.

All paths converge at the Garden of Dareloth in the Imperial City Waterfront District, where a midnight gathering offers a chance to join the Thieves Guild.

Embrace the Dark Brotherhood

Joining the Dark Brotherhood is straightforward but grim. Kill an innocent NPC, and a mysterious note will appear, stating that the killing has been noticed by unknown forces. Sleep in a safe location, such as an inn, and Lucien Lachance, the Dark Brotherhood’s Speaker, will visit. He’ll guide players on how to join this shadowy group of assassins and embrace their deadly trade.
