Essential First Steps in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

The world of Death Stranding 2 is very intricate, thanks to Kojima’s elaborate design systems. Luckily, the game has a big and detailed in-game encyclopedia Corpus. This is filled with tips you might not have picked on during quick tutorials.

The Corpus lets you sort the tips to keep the unread ones at the top of the list. If you need help with a monorail system, or want to have safe travels in an enemy area, check out the Corpus often. Check after your mission, particularly in the early eras of the game, as new entries will be added often.

Customise Your Map for Efficiency

Death Stranding 2 has a map that you can view from many different angles, like chiral patterns and weather. You can filter icons by Orders, Structures and Vehicles or create a personal filter by holding touchpad while on the map.

A lot of stuff can end up being on your display due to which you cannot spot the target items easily and it can create a lot of hassle. If you take time and lay down a custom filter showing only important items you will be able to get a great gaming experience.

Prioritise Reaching Australia

In Death Stranding 2, Mexico acts as a tutorial area like those in open world titles. Although there’s a lot to see in Mexico, the story and gameplay open up a lot more once you get to Australia, including a valuable companion.

Once you get to West Fort Knot in Australia, you can fast travel back to Mexico, or anywhere else in the Chiral Network Tarman deems safe. Now on-going movement can be drastic full game world.

Monitor Facility Rewards Consistently

Death Stranding 2 went a step ahead and gave previews of rewards you will be getting after increasing Connection Levels with different facilities. If you browse through the people you’ve met in the Corpus and scroll right to the bottom of their sections, you will see hints of unlockables.

The rewards include important tools like new weapons, vehicle upgrades and traversal tools that continue to get better as you earn stars. Complete orders, fulfil aid requests and return loose cargo to facilities to increase Connection Levels. Watchtowers can help spot these opportunities from afar.

Connect with the Lone Commander

When you arrive in Australia, the first thing you want to find is the Lone Commander prepper. This is a character who’s located next to the government building. Your first reward for increasing your Connection Level with him is a tranquilliser sniper rifle, but further building of your relationship yields more equipment which is useful.

Unlock the silenced tranq handgun, lightweight tranq sniper rifle (that is easier to carry), and ultimately the five star silenced version of the tranq sniper rifle at higher connection levels. Another thing to keep in mind is that progress slows down a lot at higher levels.  You won’t be progressing much faster until you unlock more Standard Orders from the Lone Commander.

Train in VR Combat Missions

Although the game has much more fighting than the first one, you could still go hours without running into anyone. Through various weapons, tactics and enemy types, the VR Missions ensure you don’t fumble at the clutch.

The unique controls and options of the combat system (dodging, parries and flying knees, using cargo as make-shift weapons, and switching shoulders when shooting) are an added Karakterer. Practising these mechanics in a sterile environment will save you a lot of pain down the road.

Perfect Your Stealth and Strand Techniques

In order to master your Strand, the “Strand Game” is essential. The strand has some unique uses in combat and stealth situations like improvised weapons in martial art movies.

To perform stealth takes downs you won’t have to equip your Strand. Simply approach the enemies from behind and use the button prompt that appears. To block melee strikes, you need to click on the R2 button while holding the Aim button. After deflecting, use your Strand to bind enemies and neutralize them.

Strategically Place Structures Within the Network

Construct essential structures before moving beyond the range of Chiral Network coverage. When planning your routes, please set your waypoints before entering a red zone since construction cannot happen once you enter that zone.

Placing barriers at the limit of the covered and uncovered area will benefit you and other porters and will gain you more likes. This strategy helps to maximize the usefulness of your building during the game.

Develop Road Networks Early

Building roads takes a lot of resources, especially in areas not yet connected to the chiral network, but their travel efficiency increases. Mines and monorails make construction easier, but build roads as soon as possible in connected areas.

Look for roads other players started and add on to them to score points! Roads offer serious advantages. The vehicles do not use up any battery charge as they travel on the centre of the road. Also, the smooth and even surface of the road prevents cargo from getting damaged if it falls or if it goes through rough terrain.

Utilise the Magellan as Your Mobile Storage

Get into the habit of putting important non-quest items in Magellan’s locker. The Magellan travels with you so that you can access your gear without having to refabricate and without having to backtrack. Facility lockers do not share contents between locations.

Don’t put any quest-related cargo in the Magellan. If you transport a special item via the Magellan, it gets a “Magellan” evaluation that lowers your rating a lot. You can look through the map interface to see any facility’s private locker contents.

Focus on Developing Critical Skills

Sam can enhance his Physical Stats (Terrain Traversal, Carrying Capacity, Endurance, Strand Kills) as well as Combat Stats using abilities and weapons over time. In simple terms, the idea is that to be good at using assault rifles, just use them.

When you see gaps in certain skills, focus on activities that develop those skills early on. The organic progression system rewards consistent practice, allowing Sam to get better in areas that suit your playstyle.
