Escape from Tarkov’s debut on Steam has been met with mixed reactions due to ongoing performance issues and lengthy server queues. Despite these challenges, the game’s director, Nikita Buyanov, has openly addressed the concerns and reassured fans of continuous improvements.

Director’s Apology and Commitment

The game director, Nikita Buyanov, acknowledged the “rough” launch of the extraction shooter’s 1.0 version. In a post on Twitter/X, Buyanov expressed gratitude for the players’ overwhelming interest and apologized for the server overloads. He promised the team is “adding more servers worldwide” to reduce queue times and is actively working on fixing bugs. The director assured fans that the team is dedicated to enhancing the game’s performance and addressing legacy bugs in the coming months.

Developer’s Statement and Player Compensation

In a separate message on Steam, Battlestate thanked players for their continued support and acknowledged the potential for unforeseen issues despite thorough preparation. The developers encouraged players to report bugs to help improve the gaming experience. As a gesture of goodwill, Battlestate announced in-game compensation, offering players a Bear Classic and USEC Night Patrol set, with additional rewards for those who already own these sets.

Technical Fixes and Updates

A recent technical update released on November 17 addressed several issues. The patch notes included fixes for character models in the Hideout, a freeze when switching to the Trader interaction screen, lighting issues for Jaeger with certain settings, and problems with bots teleporting or flying. Additionally, some PostFX settings were disabled to enhance performance.
