After a year shrouded in mystery, Eclipse Glow Games has made a grand return at the Xbox Partner Preview, unveiling the latest gameplay for their eagerly awaited action/adventure game, “Tides of Annihilation.”
A New Look at Tides of Annihilation
The recent trailer introduces players to the protagonist, Gwendolyn, as she faces off against a formidable boss named Tyronoe the Ferryman, a witch with the ability to shapeshift. Aiding her in this epic battle is Sir Lamorak, a Knight of the Roundtable armed with a spear. Set in a fantastical version of modern-day London, Gwendolyn’s journey spans two realms: a fog-laden metropolis and the mythical Avalon. Her mission is to unravel the truth behind the Knights of the Roundtable and the sinister forces behind an ‘Outworld invasion,’ which is also tied to her sister’s fate. An intriguing twist lies in Gwendolyn’s discovery of Sir Lamorak’s torment, brought on by Tyronoe’s dark magic.
Innovative Gameplay Features
A standout feature showcased in the new footage is the Knights System, enabling players to summon and command spectral Knights of the Roundtable. For the first time, viewers catch a glimpse of the Dual Frontline Battle System, which allows simultaneous control of both Gwendolyn and Lamorak. This dynamic mechanic is pivotal in combating Tyronoe and dismantling her magical defenses. The Mirror Realm also makes its debut appearance, portraying a mysterious fold within the game’s universe. Tyronoe, with her unique ability to traverse between realms, harnesses the potent magical energies of the Mirror Realm to challenge players.
Future Prospects and Technical Enhancements
Despite the captivating gameplay reveal, a concrete release date remains elusive. While developers hinted at a possible 2026 launch during Gamescom 2024, nothing is set in stone. “Tides of Annihilation” is anticipated to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Excitingly, it will feature Xbox Play Anywhere support, ensuring seamless cross-buy and cross-progression between PC and Xbox. The game will also leverage NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation technology, enhancing frame rates for those equipped with GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards.
