Locating Upgrade Stations
To enhance a weapon, players must seek out Ghostly Merchants scattered across the map, typically near forts or townships. These merchants have a Smithing Table nearby, which allows players to elevate their weapon’s rarity. The game features four rarity levels for weapons:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Legendary
Upgrading requires Smithing Stones, which can be obtained through various methods. On Day 3, players are transported to the Spirit Shelter, where a final opportunity to use a Smithing Table arises before facing the expedition’s Nightlord.
Special Upgrade Opportunities
After completing the initial expedition, a notification informs players that World Events, known as The Shifting Earth, are active, altering parts of the map. One such event, The Crater, is a volcanic area filled with Magma Wyrms, Fire Monks, and other fiery enemies. A Smithing Table within The Crater allows players to instantly upgrade their weapon to Legendary Rarity, removing any minimum stat requirements, enabling immediate use.

However, these merchants only provide Smithing Stone [1], so players must hunt for Smithing Stone [2] to further enhance their weapon’s rarity.
Glowing Cracked Statues
Another source of upgrade materials is Glowing Cracked Statues. Breaking these statues is challenging, requiring players to lure an enemy or boss to attack them or to use an Ultimate Art. Note that characters like Duchess and Revenant cannot destroy these statues with their Ultimate Arts.
Exploring Tunnels for Rewards
The most reliable way to obtain Smithing Stone [2] is by venturing into Tunnels, marked on the map with a mine symbol. Inside, players should descend to the lower levels to face a Troll. Defeating this enemy guarantees a Smithing Stone [2].
