The best armor in Monster Hunter Wilds will be Rarity 8 armour sets you can only access in the post-game. Expert hunters may favour weapons over armor, that said, the finest piece of defense gear is critical for most play styles.
Monster Hunter Wilds has some powerful armour sets you could unlock. This guide will outline how to unlock these Rarity 8 armour sets in the game and what are unique benefits of each set i.e, Arkveld sets and the Guild Ace to name a few.
How to Unlock Rarity 8 Armour Sets
After finishing Chapter 6 of the campaign, you can unlock the Rarity 8 armor sets. At this milestone, Gemma has added five different high-rarity sets of armor for crafting (not cosmetics). Each combination has its own unique benefits to suit your hunting style and your weapon of choice.
To craft these high-quality sets, you must gather certain materials from end-game monsters. After you craft these armours, they will provide you with a good defence that will help you survive some of the strongest creatures.

The available Rarity 8 sets include:
- Arcveld Alpha is specialized in power, elemental weaknesses, and fighting styles.
- Arkveld β (Beta) has fewer skills upgrade than Alpha version, but it has more decoration slots.
- The Guardian Arkveld α (Alpha) is capable of exploiting wounds while maximising damage.
- Guardian Arkveld β (Beta) has less innate skill enhancing abilities than Alpha but makes up for it with more decoration slots.
- The Guild Ace α protects players from elemental damage such as fire and lightning and makes them more difficult to hit. It provides bonuses to various status transfer abilities, plus increased damage when at maximum health.
The four Arkveld variants were designed for aggressive hunters who wanted a more offensive playstyle, while the Guild Ace set rewards a more strategic style of play through status effects, evasive movements, and standing at peak health. Ranged weapon users usually do well with Guild Ace, while Dual Blade users may prefer Arkveld sets.
Once you have your favourite set, head to Gemma’s forge, and upgrade your set using Armour Spheres. You can get these through mission rewards as well as crafted at the Everforge. You can gain a defense rating upgrade of +12 with these upgrades. When picking out enhancements for your hunting set with decoration slots, take note of your hunting style.
Once you have followed these steps, you will have the best armor in the game (for now), until new monsters, armour sets, and Master Rank equipment is introduced through updates. If you care about how something looks as much as its function, you can choose to make your armour look different while keeping its function the same.
