Behaviour Interactive has unveiled fresh details about the upcoming Dead by Daylight Chapter, featuring Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy’s. The new Killer, also known as The Animatronic, arrives on 17 June 2025, bringing mechanics that will thrill fans of both franchises.
Springtrap wields a massive pizza knife as his primary weapon, but his real threat comes from his fire axe. This secondary weapon can reveal Survivors in an area-of-effect attack or even lodge itself in a player’s back. If Springtrap retrieves it, he triggers a classic Five Nights at Freddy’s-style jump scare. The developers mentioned that this marks the first time Springtrap has been playable, allowing them to expand on his lore in unexpected ways.
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Becomes a New Playground
Alongside Springtrap, the new Chapter introduces the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map. This eerie recreation of the iconic restaurant includes key locations like the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall. Familiar faces from Freddy’s band, including Bonnie and Chica, also make appearances.
Even outside this map, Survivors will encounter security doors, cameras, and a special office on any stage. These elements help track Springtrap’s movements—provided there’s enough battery power left.
Legendary Outfits and a Familiar Voice
Players can unlock several outfits for Springtrap, including the Legendary Yellow Rabbit and Glitchtrap skins, as well as Very Rare Clown Springtrap and Toxic Springtrap variants. Survivors also get Freddy Fazbear-themed t-shirts. Notably, Matthew Lillard, who starred in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit outfit.
Playtest Available Now, Full Release Coming Soon
For those eager to try Springtrap early, the public test build is live now. The full Chapter launches next month, complete with additional quality-of-life updates. Whether players are diving into the PTB or waiting for the official release, this crossover promises to be one of Dead by Daylight’s most thrilling yet.
