Customizing Alma’s Appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds: Outfits and Glasses Guide

Monster Hunter Wilds has expanded customization options beyond your hunter, Palico, and Seikret to include your handler, Alma. The game’s first Title Update introduces new clothing options and eyewear for Alma, though accessing these cosmetic upgrades requires some effort and isn’t immediately obvious to players.

How to Change Alma’s Outfit

Currently, three alternative outfit options are available alongside Alma’s default appearance. However, these outfits must be downloaded from your platform’s digital store to unlock them permanently. While you can download these items before starting a gaming session, there’s also an in-game method available.

Visit a Support Deck Palico at any base camp or in the Grand Hub, then navigate to the Add-Ons section. Look for these outfit options:

Scrivener’s Coat: This outfit from the game’s prologue is available as a free download.

New World Commission Outfit: This gives Alma the classic handler appearance from Monster Hunter World and costs $5.99.

Spring Blossom Kimono: A special themed outfit that Alma can wear during the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance event. It can be permanently unlocked for $5.99.

After downloading any of these outfits, access any tent and scroll right to reach the Appearance Menu. Select Change Appearance, then Choose Change Alma’s Outfit. This opens a new menu where you can switch between her default look and any newly downloaded outfits.

Completing the Apple of Her Eye Quest

Starting the Quest

While Alma’s customization options are more limited than other characters, she can change her glasses through a specific optional quest. Speaking with Alma after the update triggers dialogue where she mentions her new glasses have gone missing. She suggests they might be lost in the Scarlet Forest, which initiates the Apple of Her Eye side quest.

Finding the Lost Glasses

Your journey begins at the Wudwud Hideout in the Scarlet Forest. Speak with Thunk, a Wudwud positioned near the hideout’s entrance. Thunk explains that lost items typically end up down the river, and a marker will appear on your map. The fastest route is traveling to the Scarlet Forest Base Camp in Area One, then taking a quick Seikret ride north.

You’ll encounter a marked Wudwud who directs you further downstream. After a brief walk, you’ll discover another Wudwud wearing Alma’s glasses upside-down. This creature immediately flees toward the Wudwud hideout.

Navigating the Festivities

Return to the hideout and speak with Thunk again. He advises asking other Wudwuds during their festivities, which only occur at nighttime during a season of plenty. Use the Rest option to adjust both the season and time quickly.

Head to the top of the hideout when these conditions are met. Interact with all the Wudwuds to receive items, establish trade routes, and gather information about Ayejack, the Wudwud who has the glasses. Their clues reveal that Ayejack is sleeping below.

Locating Sleeping Ayejack

Without a quest marker for guidance, finding Ayejack can be challenging. Return to the main level of the Wudwud hideout and look for hanging pouches made of leaves and vines that serve as beds. Ayejack sleeps in a pouch near the giant tree, across from the item-trading Musharpeye. A quest marker appears once you’re close enough.

Obtaining Eastern Honey

Finding and waking Ayejack isn’t the final step. He’ll only surrender the glasses in exchange for Eastern Honey. Here are the most effective methods for gathering this item:

  • Capturing Vigorwasps
  • Completing Event Quests for occasional rewards
  • Gathering Honey as a rare drop
  • Trading with Ren at Sild – The Keeper’s Vigil in Wyveria
  • Trading with Gawdygog at the Wudwud Hideout in the Scarlet Forest

Once you have Eastern Honey, trade with Ayejack to complete the exchange. The quest concludes with Alma expressing happiness about her new red spectacles and her willingness to wear them.

Additional Customization Options

After completing the quest, visiting any tent to change Alma’s outfit will reveal an option to switch between the new red glasses or a bonus set of square glasses.

Both new glasses can also be crafted as High Rank armor for your hunter. Find them listed as Strategist Spectacles and Square Glasses. These items are particularly useful for gathering activities, featuring fully leveled Geologist and Botanist skills.

Following the pattern of previous Monster Hunter entries, Wilds will likely introduce additional cosmetic DLC content, potentially including more outfits for Alma, though future free content remains uncertain.
