The Brute is your first boss in Stellar Blade. This Elite Naytiba completes the main quest 7th Airborne Squad. This fight is essentially the game’s first boss fight, which teaches players the combat mechanics as they’ll encounter them throughout the game.
The Brute is certainly tough for a tutorial encounter. It is particular tricky to learn the parrying and timing. The monster’s attacks need you to see and click carefully. Interestingly, you will always win in this boss fight. If you struggle, your partner will come to help you and everything will move forward in the story.
Understanding the Brute’s Combat Mechanics
The Brute has two giant red orbs that it uses as weapons. The Brute has some attack patterns so that players can learn a counter. This Elite Naytiba exhibits several unique attack patterns that players should learn to identify in combat.
The creature can throw slower, more obvious blows as well as faster combos. Understanding these patterns will help us successfully pass through the encounter.

Recognising Attack Patterns and Timing
When a Brute moves one limb next to the other and adjusts his posture a little, expect a slow strike. However, if the creature tilts its head slightly, brace yourself for a quicker assault from whichever arm first moves.
The boss also performs a belly-level lift, where he lifts one appendage to his belly and then advances and hits. The sequence gives visible signs to prepare for defense.
Advanced Attack Sequences
One of the Brute’s more elaborate manoeuvres features a unique growling sound. When you hear this sound, and the creature lifts its arm above its head, you will be hit with a forward and spinning double hit. There may be momentary pauses between strikes, while some variations add on a third strike straight after the second.
Critical Warning Indicators.
To survive deadly strikes of Brute, visual cues play a significant role. When the boss has a yellow head, run away quickly. This signal indicates a two-handed forward attack. Dodging backward won’t help you here. To evade the attack, one must perform multiple actions.
When something strikes the ground before attacking, it indicates a modified version of the attack. The victim wishes to strike the victim with a single blow, rather than the more typical standard two or three blow combination.
Managing Red-Glow Attack Phases
When your opponent’s head glows red, they’ll have a long-range attack. This indicator is a warning that a multi-hit will happen, usually five or more attacks. The Brute’s red-phase attack comes in five different attacks with different timing intervals.
The first few strikes have a pause in between but towards the end the last two attacks happen quickly requiring more focus.
The red-attack phases are a great time to practice your parrying as well as whittle down the enemy’s Balance meter. The Brute has nine Balance diamonds which require a lot of Perfect Parry to be exposed.
Alternative Outcomes and Support Systems
Don’t get discouraged if you are new to action gaming and get overpowered by the Brute. The fight has built-in help systems. If you start to go down, Tach will win the fight instead and go straight to the cutscene.
