The third day of the Call of Duty League (CDL) Championship 2025 has concluded, and the plot has thickened once more. After the Atlanta FaZe were eliminated from the tournament, Vancouver Surge and OpTic Texas made it into the Grand Final.
Miami Heretics Stun Atlanta FaZe
The day started with Miami Heretics pulling off a big upset in an elimination match versus Atlanta FaZe. From the Get-Go, the all-Spanish lineup started dominating. They won Skyline Hardpoint in a nail-biter 250-233.
Continuing their own momentum into Protocol Search and Destroy, the Heretics held on despite a David ‘RenKor’ Isern TU from friendly fire to win the map 6-3. Atlanta FaZe, who won the first two Majors of the season, could not recover in Protocol Control as Miami delivered a clean 3-0 sweep to send the tournament favourites home early.
Vancouver Surge Triumphs in Canadian Showdown
The matchup was all-Canadian as it was Vancouver Surge against Toronto Ultra, elimination. Vancouver claimed the first map Vault Hardpoint with a close 250-235 win. Nastie then dominated Protocol Search and Destroy with a strong showing to make it 6-4.
Toronto Ultra had strong support at home, but Vancouver continued to build momentum. The Surge’s 3-0 sweep on Vault Control eliminated Toronto and confirmed a top-six finish. Vancouver has already made two Grand Finals this season and looks to be at their best at the right time.
The Road to the Grand Final
OpTic Texas showed us why they are a resurging threat despite their regular-season struggles in the winner’s bracket finals. The Green Wall took down Boston Breach on Vault Hardpoint with a score of 250-73 and then took them down 6-1 on Protocol Search and Destroy.
Boston came alive on Hacienda Control to push the map to a final round. However, OpTic held steady to take the map 3-2 as well as the series 3-0. With that, they become the first team to qualify for the Grand Final.
On the other hand, in a five-game series, Vancouver Surge eliminated Miami Heretics with a 6-5 victory on Red Card Search and Destroy.
Once again, a five-game thriller happened as the Vancouver Surge faced the Boston Breach. After a back-and-forth trading maps, Vancouver took the crucial Red Card Search and Destroy 6-2 and booked their spot in the Grand Final versus OpTic Texas.

The CDL Championship 2025 is finally here and teams are ready to contest for the ultimate CDLC champions title. The OpTic Texas and Vancouver Surge will go to battle this week on the big CDL championship stage.
