Beşiktaş Bids Farewell to League of Legends Gaming Scene

Turkish esports organization Beşiktaş Esports has made headlines by announcing its departure from the League of Legends competitive arena. This decision marks the end of a significant era for the team, which has been a prominent name in the scene for a decade. The team shared that sustainability challenges were a key factor behind this move, as disclosed in a recent statement.

Beşiktaş Esports is stepping back from League of Legends to focus on sustainability and future growth. The organization underwent a thorough evaluation to take more robust steps in its future endeavors. However, the team remains open to re-entering the League of Legends ecosystem if conditions align with its aspirations.

Despite this shift, Beşiktaş Esports is far from exiting esports entirely. The organization will continue its involvement in other titles such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, and sports simulators like EA FC and NBA 2K. This announcement follows a series of contract terminations with their League of Legends players, who are now free agents for the 2026 season.

Beşiktaş Esports Journey in League of Legends

Beşiktaş Esports has been a staple in the Turkish Championship League (TCL) since 2015, closely tied to the renowned Beşiktaş football club. Their landmark achievement came in 2015 when the team participated in the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), marking a high point in their League of Legends journey.

In 2023, the TCL became part of the EMEA Regional Leagues, changing the landscape for the team. Beşiktaş Esports reached the EMEA Masters twice in 2024, securing a runner-up position in Spring, and made their final EMEA tournament appearance in Summer 2025, finishing 35th.
