AMD Unveils Radeon AI PRO R9700S and R9600D Featuring Innovative Fanless Design

AMD has quietly expanded its GPU lineup with the reveal of the Radeon AI Pro R9000 series, now listed on their official site. These new additions boast impressive specifications and target the workstation market, promising enhanced performance for professional users.

Introducing the Radeon AI PRO R9700S and R9600D

AMD’s latest launch includes the RDNA 4-based Radeon AI PRO R9700S and R9600D GPUs, targeting workstation applications. Previously hinted at on AMD’s website, these GPUs now come with detailed specifications. Both models derive from the Radeon AI PRO R9700, sharing the NAVI 48 die. However, the R9600D features a reduced configuration with 3,072 Stream Processors, while the R9700S boasts 4,096 SPs. Despite these differences, both models aim for silent operation, utilizing a fanless design.

Technical Specifications and Design

The new GPUs eliminate fans in favor of passive cooling, catering to users demanding quieter systems. The R9700S mirrors its predecessor in specs, offering a boost clock of up to 2920 MHz, a 32 GB GDDR6 memory, and a 256-bit memory bus, with a power rating of 300 W. Meanwhile, the R9600D cuts down on several features, offering only 2020 MHz boost clock and 24.8 TFLOPS of FP32 compute performance, with a 150 W TDP. However, it maintains the same 32 GB GDDR6 memory configuration, ensuring sufficient bandwidth for demanding tasks.

Availability and Market Impact

Offering ample VRAM for memory-intensive tasks, these GPUs cater to budget-conscious professionals seeking high performance. Although AMD has yet to announce pricing or availability dates, these fanless GPUs are poised to make a significant impact in the workstation arena. As more details emerge, users can anticipate the arrival of these innovative models in stores soon.
