AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 & AI 7 450 “Gorgon” CPUs Unveiled: Top-Tier iGPU at 3.1 GHz & Speeds Up to 5.25 GHz

The latest buzz in the tech world focuses on AMD’s future releases, particularly the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 and Ryzen AI 7 450 “Gorgon” CPUs. These processors have recently surfaced in performance benchmarks, generating excitement among enthusiasts.

AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 and Ryzen AI 7 450: Performance Unveiled

The flagship of this lineup, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470, showcases 12 cores and 24 threads using the Zen 5 architecture. Configured with 4 Zen 5 and 8 Zen 5C, it boasts a base clock of 2.0 GHz and can boost to an impressive 5.25 GHz. Alongside, it features a Radeon 890M iGPU with 12 RDNA 3.5 compute units, clocked at a significant 3.1 GHz. This setup was tested on a Lenovo “83Q8” laptop equipped with 32 GB of LPDDR5x-8500 memory.

The AMD Ryzen AI 7 450, on the other hand, features 8 cores and 16 threads. This processor is similarly built on the Zen 5 architecture, offering 4 Zen 5 and 4 Zen 5C cores, with clock speeds ranging from a 2 GHz base to a 5.15 GHz boost. Accompanied by 16 MB of L3 cache and 8 MB of L2 cache, it includes a Radeon 860M iGPU. This was benchmarked with a 32 GB LPDDR5x configuration on a Lenovo “83Q6” laptop.

Benchmark Insights and Performance Comparisons

In benchmarking, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 outpaces the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 by approximately 20% in multi-core tasks and 15% in single-core evaluations. Meanwhile, the Ryzen AI 7 450 offers comparable multi-core performance but excels by 5% in single-core speed over the Ryzen AI 7 350, courtesy of its 150 MHz boost. These benchmarks, although preliminary, suggest promising enhancements that are expected to improve further upon the official release of the Gorgon “AMD Ryzen AI 400” series.

Reports suggest that the AMD Radeon 890M iGPU was evaluated in a separate test, indicating the chip as an 8 CU part clocked at 3.1 GHz, though this configuration might not be definitive. This clock speed positions it as potentially the fastest iGPU presently available. Anticipation grows for more announcements about the Gorgon “Ryzen AI 400” CPUs, expected to be unveiled at CES 2026.
